Bridal Shower Goodness!

I had the wonderful pleasure of covering a beautiful tea-party themed bridal shower over the weekend. There was so much sugar goodness in the form of lovely desserts. It was beautiful to see family and friends get together to celebrate the bride-to-be. Due to client privacy I cannot share the photos of the event but check out a few of the snaps I took of the beautiful cake and setup.

Keepsake Albums

You spent all those weeks (if not years) planning for your special day and now the day has come and gone. What you will have left are the memories and photos of your special day. In today's world it's quite tempting to just want to have your photos stored in a digital medium, but I cannot say enough of how important it is to have your photos printed whether it is just simple individual prints or compiled into a keepsake album. Did you know that most flash drives will probably fail after 10 years? and not too long ago Google's Vice-president Vint Cerf proclaimed that "Digital material including key historical documents could be lost forever because programs to view them will become defunct" (Source: The Guardian). I hate to burst your instagram and facebook bubbles but this is where prints and albums become quite important! They are essential to remembering YOUR story? There is nothing quite like going through an album and slowly turning the pages with your fingers savouring the memories each photo brings back, or holding up a print in your hands bringing it closer to your face to really inspect all the details as you look back on that special day. A photo displayed on a mobile device will certainly not offer you that feeling.

Are you interested in ordering an album or coffee table book for your wedding, engagement or portrait session? Then please do get in touch with me for more information. I offer customized album designing services and would love to help you make your memories stand out.

Nadhia's Winter Wonderland Themed Pre-wedding Event

I had the pleasure of covering Nadhia's pre-wedding event last weekend before she jetted off to the Caribbean for her actual wedding which is this weekend. This event was stunning. The decor was on point (the theme was "Winter Wonderland") and the entertainment was great! It included belly dancers and a surprise performance by the bride's aunts who are from the Seychelles! You do not want to know how excited I was to actually meet people from the Seychelles! Ok it was not my first time lol but still exciting nonetheless. It has been my life goal to move there someday! The whole event was a mix of different cultures including Arab, Kenyan and Seychellois, paying homage to the bride's multicultural background. I am unable to share any images of the bride or her guests however am sharing some of the beautiful details of the event.

Erin + Daniel's Summer Wedding

This is my first Wedding Photography blog post on my new website and I couldn't have chosen a better wedding to showcase! That of my good friend Erin and her now husband Daniel, that happened back in July. I met Erin a few years ago while I was on a Canadian International Development Agency  (CIDA) internship in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Erin was also in Tanzania doing a similar internship but within her field of Law. It was a pleasure to meet Erin and Daniel's Family on their wedding day. Erin's mom is a super talented seamstress and if you can believe it, handmade the gorgeous lace wedding dress that Erin wore for her special day, as well she also embroidered over 30 uniquely made napkins that were given out to guests as favours for the wedding (She made one for me too!). To say I was impressed is an understatement! Congratulations Erin and Daniel! Wishing you many more wonderful years ahead!
