In this second installment of The Ascending I am featuring up and coming Make-Up Artist (MUA) of Eritrean/ Ethiopian Heritage Dania Ali. I think it is essential we support talent in our own communities when we spot it and that is why I was super excited to do this shoot. We were lucky enough to have the beautiful Selam be a make-up model for the photo shoot which we did along with her handsome son (A lot of the photos will be private hence if you would like to see more of her work contact Dania directly). I was very impressed with the quality of the make-up application done by Dania MashAllah as it was not overpowering (which was a plus in my books), looked quite natural and gave Selam a glowing look. If you would like to connect with Dania send me an e-mail and I will get you her contacts! She is super talented and I am sure you will not be disappointed. Even better if you would like to schedule a shoot with me and have your make-up done by Dania do let me know by using the contact form on my website or sending me an e-mail! I look forward to hearing from you! Finally I just wanted to mention that I am currently working on a new Documentary featuring Female Entrepreneurs of East African Heritage in the city of Toronto! It will be called "BiaSHEara" (a play on the word "biashara" which means business in Swahili) and I am excited to share the plans my team and I have in an up coming blog post! So watch out for that!
Maysoon's Bridal Shower
Maysoon's Bridal shower took place at the gorgeous Waterside Inn in Mississauga. It was a delightful event filled with loving family and friends. Due to client privacy (which I always respect when requested) I can only share a few pictures of the details. I personally loved the sweet/ cake table setup that was designed with much love by the bride's sister. Therefore you now get to see a lot of pics of those details. Oh and I cannot forget the gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutins worn by the bride to be!

Nadhia and Tre's Post Wedding Shoot
I had the wonderful opportunity of photographing Nadhia and Tre's post-wedding shoot a couple of weeks back. I previously had the pleasure of capturing Nadhia's pre-wedding event (see my blog post on that here) and was super excited to do this shoot. Nadhia and Tre's actual wedding took place in Jamaica. How fun is that! So when they returned home they wanted to do a chilled out post wedding shoot which we ended up doing at Milliken Park on the northern edge of Scarborough. Funny story about this particular shoot is that I just had a tooth pulled that morning and was high on medication, but their shoot allowed me to forget the pain I was in for a brief moment, although it unfortunately all returned the next day :( . Anyway I have to say I really loved the outfits this couple chose to wear to their shoot! Especially those African print pants Nadhia was rocking!
A Pineapple Themed Bridal Shower
A few weeks ago I had the delight of covering Afifah's bridal shower. It was a unique "Pineapple themed" bridal shower and it was refreshing to see such an "outside of the box" concept. My favourite part about capturing this event was getting to witness a funny bridal shower game that gave winners gifts and then gave other winners the opportunity to steal gifts from previous winners. It was not the nicest thing for the first winners, but it made for some hilarious moments and was one of the highlights of the bridal shower. Due to client privacy I am only able to share detail shots from the event. Enjoy!

A Family Session in Rouge Park
I had the beautiful pleasure of capturing a wonderful family session in the Rouge Park. It was my first time going to this location and I simply cannot believe that I only live 15 minutes away from this G.T.A treasure. This was a most beautiful family session which included the family cat and dog who were really not so pleased to be right next to each other lol (it is true when they say cats and dogs don't always get along with each other hehe). Finally I really have to give props to the clients for their choice of wardrobe. Absolutely loved it!
